Hacia una nueva estética desde América Latina” de la facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Cuenca (Ecuador) aborda el espectáculo de la modernidad y sus contradicciones desde el pensamiento de Esteban Echeverría, el mismo que sirve de guía para analizar el heavy metal asociado a la música barroca, como máquinas estéticas abstractas de espectacularidad.La música popular urbana es abordada como uno de los impactos del modernismo globalizador en la ciudad de Cuenca, pero no desde una recepción pasiva, sino desde la creatividad de la juventud, que identifica sus conflictos y sueños con el heavy metal. El presente artículo es una interpretación de la banda de heavy metal Basca con su tema “Culpables”. Se presenta un análisis del performance que considera el idioma musical, la representación y el texto, elementos que sirven para interpretar la forma que asume la música en la construcción de las máquinas estéticas barrocas contemporáneas.Palabras clave: Máquinas estéticas, heavy metal, barroco, música popular urbana.Abstract:The project " Esthetic machines, symbolic machines. Towards a new aesthetic from Latin America" of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Cuenca (Ecuador) approaches the spectacle of modernity and its contradictions from the thought of Esteban Echeverría, which serves as a guide to analyze the heavy metal associated with Baroque music, as abstract aesthetic spectacular machines of spectacularity.Urban popular music is addressed as one of the impacts of globalizing modernism in the city of Cuenca, but not from a passive reception, but from the creativity of the youth, that identifies their conflicts and dreams with heavy metal. This article is an interpretation of the heavy metal band Basca, with its theme "Culpables". We present an analysis of the performance considering musical language, representation and the text, elements that are used to interpret the form which takes the music in the construction of contemporary aesthetic Baroque machines.Keywords: Esthetic machines, heavy metal, Baroque, urban popular music.
