Description

Abstract:Contemporary art is a concept difficult to define, and Arthur Danto, as an art philosopher, has tried to define it. This paper tries to approach Danto’s thoughts about contemporary art, or as he calls it post-historical art. Danto affirms that art is death, and everything that happens after its death is post-historical art: this is how he defines contemporary art. From a philosophical point of view, contemporary art attends to to other thoughts further than only esthetics.    Keywords: Contemporary art, post-historical art, Arthur Danto, end of art, visual art.
