Description

From the point of view of evolution, herpesviruses are among the most successful organisms in nature. They form a large family of viruses, infecting almost all vertebrate species known and generally causing latent infections that last for the host?s lifetime with periodic recurrences in spite of the strong immune response they tend to elicit.
