The purpose of this thesis was to determine the role of Genki English songs in the production of oral language, specifically with second year of basic education children at Rafael Suárez Elementary School located in Ibarra city during scholar year 2010-2011. It was an opportunity to diagnose on the use of current methodologies, analyze how children react when they listen to songs in English, analyze teacher-children interaction when learning the songs and determine how the songs encourage children. Genki English program was the main resource for teaching English to second year of basic education children. It is a program full of energy, with games, cards and guides for using songs in English correctly. The concept of ¿Genki ¿ is reviewed in this work, referred to have children motivated and willing to learn and communicate in another language. This thesis was structured considering as the first part, the description of the research problem that concerns the children of the second year of basic education children are not motivated to produce oral English. Second part, the theoretical framework was divided into chapters describing topics about Genki songs, which are a powerful force that can be used to cause great effect on learning and can unleash the energy of any class and help guide it in a positive direction. Next chapter reviewed the production of oral English, which is the complex system that relates sounds to meanings in order to express ourselves, to get our ideas across, and to connect with other people.
