On the basis of a wide theoretical background and some technical instruments of investigation, it intends to explore the penitentiary world in Ecuador in the light of hermeneutics visions from a historic-diachronic character, including some brief annotations about the colonial roots of the concepts and categories that relate to it. The theories of conformation of the states and their mechanisms of “governmentality” are very present in this description. There is an effort to locate the world of the penitentiary confinement at this present time, penetrating its internal composition and the social, cultural and political factors that wrap and define it (field and habitus). A dissection of its actual structure is submitted, including its double regulation that comes from the state and the transnational organized crime. It describes the transformation that occurs under the influence of globalization and the undeniable presence of ultra-refined criminal organizations, pretending to rise, on the sidelines of the narrowly limited academic speech of this reflection, some elements that allow to theorize about radical changes that prison demands, in particular in the frame of Human Security of Ecuadorian state.
En base a un amplio bagaje teórico e instrumentos técnicos de investigación, se pretende explorar el mundo penitenciario del Ecuador a la luz de visiones hermenéuticas de carácter histórico-diacrónico, incluyendo breves acotaciones sobre la raigambre colonial de las categorías y conceptos que se relacionan con ella. Las teorías de conformación de los estados y sus mecanismos de “gubernamentalidad” tienen gran presencia en esa descripción. Hay un esfuerzo también por ubicar el mundo del encierro penitenciario en el momento presente, al penetrar en su composición interna y en los factores sociales, culturales y políticos que la envuelven y la definen (campos y habitus). Se presenta una disección detallada de su estructura actual, incluyendo sus dobles normativas provenientes tanto del Estado como del crimen organizado transnacional, y se describe la transformación que en ella se opera bajo la influencia de la globalización y de la presencia innegable de organizaciones criminales ultra-refinadas; pretendiendo levantar, quizás al margen del propio discurso académico muy acotado de esta reflexión, una serie de elementos que permitan teorizar sobre los cambios radicales que la cárcel demanda, sobre todo en marco de la Seguridad Humana del estado ecuatoriano.
