Geopolitics has been considered as a science by the scientific contributions of the Political Sciences as well as Geography, which undoubtedly have allowed it to define a series of knowledge that has been embodied in theories, laws and principles, put at the service of statesmen and strategists, to whom it provides not only the geographical sense of governing, but also the possibility of including in the analysis of institutions, socio-cultural aspects resulting from processes of social construction in each epoch and in virtue of the current world order, as a reality built in a dynamic way; Therefore, this research intends to make an academic reflection, starting from the analysis of the progress that Geopolitics has had, its validity, its repercussions in Security and Defense, the influence in South America, and in that context, present an approximation to the Ecuadorian geopolitical thought, for which, the study of the geopolitical codes of the country and its influence in the foreign policy of the same has been considered. This work has been traced from a theoretical perspective of constructivism, starting from the deterministic conception of its beginnings, to postmodernist criticism, for which the methodology of discourse analysis has been proposed with a documentary review, through stages of collection of information, analysis and presentation of results, considering the thinking of several authors who, through books, scientific articles and post-graduate work, contributed to the enrichment of this science, in addition, they allowed to find through the analysis of the different theories, which been its progress, validity and / or complementarity, reaching the conclusion that its reflection is in the discourse, the regulations, as well as in the institutions created at a global, regional or national level.
La Geopolítica ha sido considerada como una ciencia por los aportes científicos de las ciencias políticas así como de la Geografía, que sin lugar a dudas le han permitido definir una serie de conocimientos que se han plasmado en teorías, leyes y principios, puestos al servicio de estadistas y estrategas, a los que les brinda no solo el sentido geográfico de gobernar, sino también la posibilidad de incluir en el análisis de las instituciones, aspectos socioculturales resultantes de procesos de la construcción social en cada época y en virtud del orden mundial vigente, como una realidad construida en forma dinámica; por lo que, en esta investigación se pretende realizar una reflexión académica, partiendo desde el análisis del progreso que ha tenido la Geopolítica, su vigencia, sus repercusiones en la Seguridad y Defensa, la influencia en Suramérica, y en ese contexto, presentar una aproximación al pensamiento geopolítico ecuatoriano, para lo cual, se ha considerado el estudio de los códigos geopolíticos del país y su influencia en la política exterior del mismo. Este trabajo, ha sido trazado desde una mirada teórica del constructivismo, partiendo de la concepción determinista de sus inicios, hasta la crítica posmodernista, para lo cual se ha planteado la metodología de análisis del discurso con una revisión documental, a través de etapas de recolección de información, análisis y presentación de resultados, considerando el pensamiento de varios autores que a través de libros, artículos científicos y trabajos de posgrado, contribuyeron al enriquecimientos de esta ciencia, además, permitieron encontrar a través del análisis de las diferentes teorías, cuál ha sido su progreso , vigencia y/o complementariedad, llegando a la conclusión que su reflejo está en el discurso, la normativa, así como en las instituciones creadas a nivel mundial, regional o nacional.
