The purpose of this study was to learn about the entrepreneurial mechanisms developed by international cooperation and its socio-economic impact in improving the quality of life of refugee mothers in the Province of Esmeraldas, during the period 2016 - March 2019. To do this, it used the qualitative research method; 15 interviews were applied to refugee mothers benefiting from international cooperation for the formation of enterprises. With regard to the most outstanding findings, it can be mentioned that some of the participants managed to maintain their businesses and improve their quality of life, however, another part of the group of interviewees pointed out two main problems, on the one hand, the economic aid provided by the international cooperation agency had not been sufficient and, on the other hand, its business had not been accepted in the local market, therefore, the undertakings had not been able to be maintained over time.
El estudio presentado tuvo como propósito conocer los mecanismos de emprendimiento desarrollados por la cooperación internacional y su impacto socioeconómico en el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de las madres refugiadas en la Provincia de Esmeraldas, durante el período 2016 - marzo 2019. Para ello, se utilizó el método de investigación cualitativa; se aplicaron 15 entrevistas a madres refugiadas beneficiarias de la cooperación internacional en la formación de emprendimientos. Con respecto a los hallazgos más resaltantes, se puede mencionar que efectivamente algunas de las participantes lograron mantener sus negocios y mejorar su calidad de vida. No obstante, otra parte del grupo de entrevistadas, señaló dos problemas principales, por una parte, la ayuda económica otorgada por el organismo de cooperación internacional no había sido suficiente y, por otra parte, sus negocios no habían sido aceptados a nivel de mercado, por ende, los emprendimientos no se habían podido mantener en el tiempo.
