En este artículo se estudia el video performance como objeto artístico y su potencial expresión contemporánea. A partir del análisis de las características propias del performance y del video como medio tecnológico se recorren sus categorizaciones y fusión dialéctica, y se realiza un acercamiento al análisis de algunas obras de artistas icónicos provocadores de esta tendencia, con especial atención a las propuestas de Paul MacCarthy, para concluir con las razones que acreditan la permanencia actual del video performance.Palabras clave: Performance; videoperformances; video de creación; cuerpo en el arte; Paul MacCarthy
The essay studies video performance as an artistic object and its potential contemporary expression. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of performance and video as a technological medium, it goes through its categorizations, its dialectical fusion, and approaches the analysis of some works by iconic artists provoking this tendency, with special attention to the proposals of Paul MacCarthy, for complete with the reasons that prove the current permanence of video performance.Keywords: Performance; videoperformances; creative video; body in art; Paul MacCarthy
