Description

The treatment of road infrastructure and its coexistence with the public space is a challenge for cities; and especially the construction of specialized highways which breaks urban fabric when they are overlapping frames to existing elements. The city of Barcelona is an example in resolving these situations with its Ring Roads that bypass the city and make a harmonious coexistence between different levels of mobility, urban fabric and public space. In this case, the Master?s Final Project Work is the analysis of the public spaces in the Second Ring Road infrastructure called Ronda de Dalt, and how these pieces are inserted into the urban fabric, which its uniqueness orography due is located at the foot of the Collserola mountain, and liaises between different municipalities and especially within the city. This research covers the historical context of Barcelona in relation to the road infrastructure and public space, the achievement of the Rondas for the 1992?s Olympic Games, the different elements of public space in Ronda de Dalt, and finally the analysis of Fav?ncia street.
