Description

Ecuador is a country on the north western coast of South America. Due to its geography, climate and plate-??boundar location it is prone to a number of natural hazards, but the most common are floods. In the coastal area, the topography of the terrain, amount of precipitation, characteristics of the drainage systems and deficient sewage systems are the main causes of flooding. This hazard impacts some communities in Ecuador every year causing economic losses, infrastructural damages and many casualties.
