OBJETIVO: El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar la relación entre la prevalencia de caries y la autopercepción de su impacto en los desempeños diarios en niños de 12 años de la Parroquia de San Sebastián del Cantón Cuenca 2016. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: La metodología aplicada fue de tipo descriptiva, transversal de campo y observacional. Se examinaron a 180 estudiantes de 12 años de edad de la Parroquia San Sebastián del Cantón Cuenca 2016. Los datos fueron de tipo cuantitativo. RESULTADOS: Los resultados obtenidos de una muestra de 180 escolares pertenecientes a la parroquia de San Sebastián fue distribuida por sexos teniendo 42% femenino y 58% masculino. Se encontró que la prevalencia de caries para ambos sexos fue de 68.8%, en relación a la autopercepción del impacto de la caries dental 56.11% reporto el mismo, los desempeños con mayor severidad de impacto fueron el comer con un 41.1% y el lavarse los dientes con el 38.3%, los niños presentaron al menos un desempeño diario implicado.
OBJECTIVE: the objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the prevalence of caries and self-perceptions of their impact on the daily performance in children of 12 years of the parish of San Sebastian of Canton Cuenca 2016. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The methodology applied was descriptive, transverse field and observational. Discussed were 180 students from 12 years of age of the parish San Sebastian of Canton Cuenca 2016. There were quantitative data. RESULTS: The results obtained from a sample of 180 school students belonging to the parish of San Sebastian was distributed by sexes taking 58% male and 42% female. Was found that the prevalence of tooth decay for both sexes was 68.8%, compared to the self-perception of the impact of dental caries 56.11% reported the same performance with greater severity of impact were eating with a 41.1% and brushing your teeth with the 38.3% the children had at least one daily performance.
