El presente estudio surge de la necesidad de elaborar un marco teórico – conceptual para la línea de investigación ‘territorio, ciudad y medioambiente’ de la Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la Universidad Católica de Cuenca (ucacue). Para lo cual se empleó una metodología observacional, prospectiva, transversal y descriptiva, sustentada en la técnica bibliográfica y en la encuesta. La técnica bibliográfica permitió efectuar una aproximación a la teoría más actualizada proveniente de revistas indexadas y artículos científicos que abordan las variables estudiadas: territorio, ciudad y medio ambiente. Por su parte, la encuesta involucró preguntas cerradas y de opción múltiple, y fue aplicada a un grupo de 184 estudiantes de los ciclos 6to, 7mo, 8vo, 9no y 10mo de la carrera de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la ucacue, así como a 2 docentes de la misma Facultad. En conclusión, se plantea que la triangulación entre la teoría identificada, las respuestas de los encuestados y los criterios de la investigadora permitieron establecer definiciones de las tres variables, evidenciando, a su vez, la estrecha interrelación existente entre ellas.
The present study arises from the need to elaborate a theoretical-conceptual framework for the research line 'territory, city and environment', of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Catholic University of Cuenca (ucacue). For this purpose, an observational, prospective, transversal, and descriptive methodology was used, based on the bibliographic technique and the survey. The bibliographic technique allowed us to make an approximation to the most updated theory from indexed journals and scientific articles that address the variables studied: territory, city and environment. For its part, the survey involved closed questions and multiple choice, and was applied to a group of 184 students of the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th cycles of the Architecture and Urbanism course of the ucacue, as well as 2 teachers from the same Faculty. In conclusion, it is suggested that the triangulation between the identified theory, the responses of the respondents and the researcher's criteria allowed to stablish definitions of the three variables, demonstrating, in turn, the close interrelation between them.
