OBJETIVO: Es evaluar la autopercepción de la estética dental en pacientes de 30 a 45 años de edad en el período Abril – Julio 2017 que acuden a la Clínica Odontológica de la Universidad Católica de Cuenca. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: fue un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal que utilizó como instrumento el OHIP-Estético, con una muestra de 152 pacientes que acudieron a la Clínica Docente Odontológica de la ucacue. RESULTADOS: Los puntajes promedio por sexo fueron 24.29 (±10,22) y 23,83 (±10,09) para el femenino y masculino respectivamente; y el promedio general fue de 24.16 (±10,16). De igual manera los promedios en los rangos de edades fueron de 22.22 (±7.49), 23,16 (±9.55) y 26.19 (±11.99) para las edades de 30-35 años, 36-40 años y 41-45 años correspondientemente. En los niveles de autopercepción se observaron los valores más altos para el sexo masculino y femenino, los cuales fueron n=66 (43.42%) y n= 27 (17.76%) respectivamente, dichos valores representan al nivel moderado en la severidad del OHIP-Estético. Y para el rango de edades los valores más altos fueron n=46 (30.26%), n=11 (7.24%) y n= 36 (23.68%) para las edades de 30-35 años, 36-40 años y 41-45 años respectivamente, dichos valores representan al nivel moderado en la severidad del OHIP-Estético. CONCLUSION: El nivel de autopercepción en general fue moderado con un puntaje promedio de 24.16 (±10,16). Además, no existieron diferencias significativas entre los puntajes promedio para el sexo masculino y femenino, cuyos valores fueron 24.29 (±10,22) y 23,83 (±10,09).
The main objective of this research was to evaluate the self - perception of dental aesthetics in patients aged between 30 and 45 years in the period April - July 2017 who attend the Dental Clinic of the Catholic University of Cuenca. MATERIALS AND METHODS: It was a descriptive cross-sectional study was used as an instrument of the OHIP-aesthetic, with a sample of 152 patients who attended the Dental Teaching Clinic of the ucacue. RESULTS: The mean scores by sex were 24.29 (±10.22) and 23.83 (±10.09) for the feminine and masculine, respectively; and the overall average was 24.16 (±10.16). In the same way the averages in the range of ages were 22.22 (±7.49), 23.16 (±9.55) and 26.19 (±11.99) for ages 30-35 years, 36-40 years and 41-45 years accordingly. In the levels of perception were observed higher values for the male and female, which were n=66 (43.42%) and n = 27 (17.76%) respectively, these values represent the moderate level on the severity of the OHIP-aesthetic. And for the age range of the highest values were n=46 (30.26%), n=11 (7.24%) and n = 36 (23.68%) for ages 30-35 years, 36-40 years and 41-45 years respectively, these values represent the moderate level on the severity of the OHIP-aesthetic. CONCLUSION: The level of perception in general was moderate with an average score of 24.16 (±10.16). In addition, there were no significant differences between the mean scores for the male and female, whose values were 24.29 (±10.22) and 23.83 (±10.09).
