OBJETIVOS: Identificar las características conductuales más comunes en los pacientes odontopediátricos para determinar las técnicas farmacológicas y no farmacológicas adecuadas para el abordaje efectivo en la consulta odontopediátrica. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: búsqueda bibliográfica en bases de datos como: Scopus, Pubmed, Scielo, EBSCOhost, Dialnet, Elsevier, DOAJ, Medlinedental. Las palabras clave utilizadas fueron: consulta, clínica, odontológica, conducta, desarrollo, odontopediatría, psicología, consulta clínica odontológica, técnicas no farmacológicas, teoría conductual, manejo del miedo y se incluyeron artículos publicados en el periodo de 2016 al 2021. Se obtuvo un total de 73 fuentes bibliográficas que fueron posteriormente analizadas. RESULTADOS: Se identificaron tipos de temperamentos y comportamientos más comunes del infante que se presentan durante la consulta, al igual que los factores que tienen influencia en los mismos, como: estilos de crianza y miedo a la consulta dental. Mediante la diferenciación se pudo establecer los criterios a tomar en cuenta en el abordaje de la consulta, estableciendo un flujograma de atención al paciente odontopediátrico. CONCLUSIONES: La evaluación de las características cognitivo- conductuales del paciente odontopediatricos se presenta como punto clave en el desarrollo de la consulta dental, esto contribuirá al especialista tomar las medidas y herramientas pertinentes para el abordaje personalizado del niño.
AIM: To identify the most common behavioral characteristics in pediatric dentistry patients to determine the appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological techniques for an effective approach in pediatric dentistry. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Bibliographic search in databases such as: Scopus, Pubmed, Scielo, EBSCOhost, Dialnet, Elsevier, DOAJ, Medlinedental. The key words used were: consultation, clinical, dental, behavior, development, pediatric dentistry, psychology, clinical dental consultation, non- pharmacological techniques, behavioral theory, fear management and articles published in the period from 2016 to 2021 were included. Total of 73 bibliographic sources that were subsequently analyzed. RESULTS: The most common types of temperaments and behaviors of the infant that occur during the consultation were identified, as well as the factors that influence them, such as: parenting styles and fear of the dental consultation. Through the differentiation it was possible to establish the criteria to be taken into account in the approach to the consultation, establishing a flujogram of care for the pediatric odonto patient. CONCLUSIONS: The evaluation of the cognitive-behavioral characteristics of the pediatric dentistry patient is presented as a key point in the development of the dental consultation, this contributes to the specialist taking the pertinent measures and tools for the personalized approach of the child.
