AUTOPERCEPCIÓN DEL IMPACTO DE LA CARIES EN LOS DESEMPEÑOS DIARIOS EN ESCOLARES DE 12 AÑOS DE EDAD EN LA PARROQUIA EL VECINO, EN LA CIUDAD DE CUENCA, 2016

OBJETIVO: El objetivo de la presente investigación, es determinar cómo afecta la caries en los desempeños diarios por medio de la autopercepción en los escolares de 12 años de edad de las escuelas de la parroquia El Vecino, en la ciudad de Cuenca, 2016; MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: El enfoque de la investigación es cuantitativo, el diseño de Investigación: descriptivo; nivel de investigación: descriptivo; tipo de investigación: Por el ámbito: documental, por la técnica: observacional, por la temporalidad: transversal retrospectivo. La población y muestra del estudio, es de “183” fichas epidemiológicas de la parroquia El Vecino, que corresponde al total de fichas registradas en el estudio epidemiológico de salud bucal para esta parroquia; se realizó la extracción depuración y tabulación de las mismas, obteniéndose un resultado de 183 fichas epidemiológicas, con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión correspondientes. RESULTADOS: La población estuvo constituida por un: 62.3% género femenino, y, 37.7% género masculino; el 75% de escolares no presentaron autopercepción de impacto de la caries en el desempeño diario, mientras que el 25% si presentaron impacto. CONCLUSIÓN: Se pudo determinar que tres cuartas partes de la muestra total, que corresponde al 75% de escolares, no presentaron autopercepción de impacto de la caries en el desempeño diario, mientras que el 25% si presentaron impacto. Se observó que el 26% del sexo femenino presentó un mayor porcentaje de severidad de impacto de la caries; mientras que en el sexo masculino fue el 23%, siendo este mayor en las mujeres que en los hombres. Se comprobó también que los escolares presentan mayor impacto de la caries dental en la actividad de comer, sin distinción de sexo en el estudio que se realizó en los escolares de 12 años de la parroquia El Vecino, en la ciudad de Cuenca,2016.
AIM: The objective of the present investigation is to determine how caries affects daily performance through self-perception in schoolchildren of 12 years of age in the schools of El Vecino parish, in the city of Cuenca, 2016; MATERIALS AND METHODS: The research focus is quantitative, search design: descriptive; Level of research: descriptive; Type of research: For the field: documentary, by technique: observational, by temporality: transversal retrospective. The population and sample of the study is, "183" epidemiological records of the parish “El Vecino”, which corresponds to the total of records recorded in the epidemiological study of oral health for this parish; Extraction and tabulation of the same were done, obtaining a result of 183 epidemiological records, with the corresponding inclusion and exclusion criteria. RESULTS: The population was constituted by: 62.3% female gender, and, 37.7% male gender; 75% of schoolchildren did not present self-perception of the impact of caries on daily performance, while 25% did have an impact. CONCLUSION: It was determined that three quarters of the total sample, which corresponds to 75% of schoolchildren, did not present self-perception of the impact of caries on daily performance, while 25% did have an impact. It was observed that 26% of the female sex had a higher percentage of impact severity of caries; while in the male sex it was 23%, being higher in women than in men. It was also verified that schoolchildren present the greatest impact of dental caries in the activity of eating, without distinction of sex in the study that was carried out in the 12-year-old schoolchildren of El Vecino parish, in the city of Cuenca, 2016.
