OBJETIVO: Determinar la relación entre el nivel de ingresos económicos con la negligencia del cuidado dental en adultos de 45 a 65 años de edad en la parroquia El Batán en la ciudad de Cuenca. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: La metodología aplicada fue de tipo cuantitativa, el diseño fue caso control. La muestra estuvo constituida por 74 encuestados por grupo, los que ingresaron en el programa Epi Info, donde se analizaron los casos y controles de acuerdo a edad y sexo en un total de 460 ficha, que cumplieron con los criterios de selección. RESULTADOS: Los resultados del nivel de negligencia obtenidos en la parroquia El Batán de la ciudad de Cuenca indicaron que existe un nivel mayor en personas con ingresos económicos bajos siendo un porcentaje de 81.75%, de acuerdo al sexo se obtuvo un nivel mayor de negligencia en la mujer con una diferencia del 18% en relación hombre- mujer, y según la prueba Odd Ratio el valor reportado de este estudio fue de 0.9. CONCLUSIONES: El nivel de ingreso económico es un factor protector con relación a la presencia de negligencia al cuidado dental.
OBJECTIVE: To determine the relationship between the level of economic income and the neglect of dental care in adults from 45 to 65 years of age in the El Batán parish in the city of Cuenca. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The methodology applied was quantitative, the design was control case. The sample consisted of 74 respondents per group, they were entered into the Epi Info program, where the cases and controls were analyzed according to age and sex in a total of 460 records. That they met the selection criteria. RESULTS: The results of the level of negligence obtained in the El Batán parish of the city of Cuenca indicated that there is a higher level in people with low income, being a percentage of 81.75% according to sex, a higher level of negligence was obtained in the female sex with a difference of 18% in male-female ratio, and according to the odd ratio test the reported value of this study was 0.9 CONCLUSIONS: the level of economic income is a protective factor in relation to the presence of negligence to dental care .
