6 Evaluación del sexting y autoestima en adolescentes de 14 a 17 años de la Unidad Educativa Miguel Merchán. ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to investigate the evaluation of sexting and self-esteem in adolescents between 14 and 17 years of age from the Miguel Merchán Educational Unit. We worked with a quantitative approach and descriptive scope, a sample of 220 students was selected, to whom two instruments were applied to identify the variables present in the research, the Sexting survey was used, which was translated and adapted by Cajamarca (2016) Based on the Sex and Tech Model and for the self-esteem variable, the Rosenberg scale was used. This research aims to discover the causes and behaviors that adolescents have about the phenomenon of sexting and correlate their practice with levels of self-esteem, thus revealing the reasons for this sexual practice. Among the results, the lack of knowledge of the concept of sexting stands out, however, the participants recognize that they practice sexting, and admit that it is frequent among people of their age, both men and women. Noting that people his age sex to get or keep the attention of a woman or man, for fun or flirting, so as not to lose their partner or peer group. A higher percentage of low self-esteem was evidenced among adolescents. In conclusion, prudence is recommended since the majority have performed sexting, as it is a practice not without risk from which negative personal and professional consequences can be derived, due to the wide dissemination and permanence of sexual material on the network. Key words: sexting, self esteem, teenagers RESUMEN El objetivo de esta investigación fue indagar la evaluación del sexting y autoestima en adolescentes de 14 a 17 años de la Unidad Educativa Miguel Merchán. Se trabajó con un enfoque cuantitativo y alcance descriptivo, se seleccionó una muestra de 220 estudiantes, a quienes se les aplicó dos instrumentos para identificar las variables presentes en la investigación, se utilizó la encuesta de Sexting que fue traducida y adaptada por Cajamarca (2016), en base al Modelo Sex and Tech y para la variable autoestima se usó la escala de Rosenberg.
