La presente investigación identifica los Rituales Funerarios que se practican como parte de la expresión cultural de los pobladores del Barrio Santa Isabel en la Parroquia de Amaguaña, además de registrar las acciones, recopilar leyendas, supersticiones y sueños relacionados con la muerte, así como también describir los elementos iconográficos funerarios que se hallan en el cementerio parroquial San Pedro de Amaguaña. Con respecto a la metodología es de enfoque cualitativo, modalidad etnográfica con un nivel de profundidad descriptivo y diseño de tipo bibliográfica y de campo; se utilizó la técnica de entrevista con su instrumento guion de preguntas, mismos que fueron dirigidos a la población de estudio que consistió en cuatro expertos y cuatro informantes clave; sujetos seleccionados a través del muestreo no probabilístico con muestra discrecional. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que los pobladores del Barrio Santa Isabel, expresan los rituales funerarios a través de acciones que acompañan la despedida de un individuo, enlazados con narraciones orales y memorias particulares del lugar, de igual forma la morada de descanso está diseñada con elementos iconográficos funerarios que representan símbolos de protección para el alma del difunto; atributos que pueden observarse en el Cementerio de la Parroquia de Amaguaña, actos indudables que explican la muerte a través de diferentes percepciones.
This research identifies the Funeral Rituals that are practiced as part of the cultural expression of the Santa Isabel Neighborhood inhabitants in the Amaguaña Parish, in addition to registering the actions, collecting legends, superstitions and dreams related to death, as well as describing the funerary iconographic elements found in the San Pedro de Amaguaña parish cemetery. Regarding the methodology, it is of qualitative approach, ethnographic modality with a descriptive depth level and bibliographic and field design; the interview technique was used with its question script instrument, which was addressed to the study population that consisted of four experts and four key informants; people selected through non-probabilistic sampling with discretionary sample. The results obtained show that the residents of the Santa Isabel Neighborhood, express the funeral rituals through actions that accompany the farewell of an individual, linked with oral narrations and particular memories of the place, in the same way the resting place is designed with iconographic elements funeral homes that represent symbols of protection for the soul of the deceased; attributes that can be observed in the Cemetery of the Amaguaña Parish, undoubted acts that explain death through different perceptions
