La Diabetes Mellitus Tipo II (DMII) en la niñez y adolescencia es actualmente un problema de salud pública relacionado principalmente al sobrepeso y obesidad debido al sedentarismo, inactividad física, o inadecuados hábitos alimenticios, por lo que implementar nuevas pruebas diagnósticas es de gran utilidad, los mismos que otorguen resultados confiables y certeros. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue determinar la prevalencia de DM II por medio de una Sobrecarga Oral de Glucosa (SOG) en pacientes con sobrepeso y obesidad que acudieron a consulta externa del Hospital Pediátrico Baca Ortiz. El estudio fue de tipo descriptivo, trasversal y prospectivo, la población fue de 102 pacientes pediátricos 67 mujeres y 35 hombres de 2 a 17 años, los datos recolectados se clasificaron en base a la edad, género, y diagnóstico, para el análisis estadístico utilizó el programa IBMSPSS, tablas cruzadas, y pruebas de chi cuadrado de Pearson para comprobar las hipótesis planteadas, finalmente se obtuvo una prevalencia del 8,82% de DM II % de los cuales el 3,3% equivalen a pacientes con sobrepeso y 5,5 % con obesidad, de acuerdo al género se presentó mayor porcentaje en mujeres con un 6,6 % y 2, 2 % en hombres, de los cuales el 4,4 % equivale a pacientes de 17 años, además se determinó una sensibilidad del 86% y especificidad del 97%.
Type II Diabetes Mellitus (DMII) in childhood and adolescence is currently a public health problem related mainly to overweight and obesity due to sedentary lifestyle, physical inactivity, or inadequate eating habits, so implementing new diagnostic tests is very useful, the same that provide reliable and accurate results. The objective of the present investigation was to determine the prevalence of DM II by means of an Oral Glucose Overload (SOG) in patients with overweight and obesity who went to an outpatient clinic of the Pediatric Hospital Baca Ortiz. The study was descriptive, transversal and prospective, the population was 102 pediatric patients 67 women and 35 men from 2 to 17 years, the data collected were classified based on age, gender, and diagnosis, for the statistical analysis used the IBMSPSS program, cross tables, and Pearson's chi-square tests to verify the hypotheses raised, finally a prevalence of 8.82% of DM II% was obtained, of which 3.3% is equivalent to overweight patients and 5, 5% with obesity, according to gender there was a higher percentage in women with 6.6% and 2, 2% in men, of which 4.4% is equivalent to 17-year-old patients, in addition a sensitivity of 86% and specificity of 97%.
