El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo analizar el índice de posición competitiva del Sector Textil, así como la capacidad de desarrollar un índice competitivo que le permita la sostenibilidad en el mercado internacional, y el aporte a la Matriz Productiva. Para su elaboración se aplicó el método deductivo-cuantitativo no experimental, debido a que no se pretende manipular las variables del estudio, sino contrastar el desempeño del Sector Textil. El tipo de investigación que se utilizó para desarrollar la investigación es de carácter descriptivo. Se utilizó base de datos de Trade Map e información de la Superintendencia de Compañías.El estudio se desarrolló bajo el marco teórico sobre el crecimiento económico, la teoría del bienestar, la sustitución de importaciones, la teoría moderna del comercio internacional, teorías que fueron de soporte para la investigación. Se obtuvo como conclusión que el Sector Textil tenga un índice de competitividad muy bajo, que sus inversiones no estén dirigidas al desarrollo de competitividad y que la Matriz Productiva no haya presentado indicadores que acrediten a los sectores productivos.
The present research aims to analyze the competitive position index of the Textile Sector, as well as the capacity to develop a competitive index that allows the sustainability in the international market, and the contribution to the Productive Matrix. For its elaboration the non-experimental deductive-quantitative method was applied, because it is not intended to manipulate the variables of the study, but to contrast the performance of the Textile Sector. The type of research that was used to develop the research is descriptive in nature. Trade Map database and information from the Superintendency of Companies were used. The study was developed under the theoretical framework on economic growth, welfare theory, import substitution, modern international trade theory, theories that supported research. It was concluded that the Textile Sector has a very low competitiveness index, that its investments are not aimed at the development of competitiveness and that the Productive Matrix has not presented indicators that accredit the productive sectors.
