El presente trabajo está dedicado a analizar la labor periodística en el tratamiento del caso de Panama Papers, específicamente en los medios de prensa El Comercio y El Universo. Para ello, se describen teóricamente el concepto de los procesos periodísticos, el periodismo digital y las nuevas tendencias como el género leak. La comprensión de dichos tópicos ayuda al desarrollo del resto del estudio el cual está basado en un método cualitativo y cuantitativo lo que permite una aproximación de los procesos periodísticos de dicho caso exclusivamente en el contexto ecuatoriano. Se filtra la data proporcionada por la plataforma del ICIJ y se realiza entrevistas a tres periodistas que fueron parte del grupo del ICIJ. Como principal conclusión se resalta que, si bien el perfil de los profesionales de la comunicación ha logrado un avance al incorporar nuevas habilidades en la manipulación de bigdata y conocimiento sobre las modalidades offshore en el país, aún queda mucho por incorporar en los mecanismos y herramientas tecnológicas para el desarrollo y despegue del periodismo del género leak en los medios de prensa nacionales.
The present work is dedicated to analyze the journalistic work in the case of Panama Papers, specifically in the media El Comercio and El Universo. To this end, the concept of journalistic processes, digital journalism and new trends such as the leak genre are theoretically described. The understanding of these topics helps the development of the rest of the study which is based on a qualitative and quantitative method, which allows an approximation of the journalistic processes of said case exclusively in the Ecuadorian context. The data provided by the ICJ platform is filtered and interviews are carried out with three journalists who were part of the ICIJ group. The main conclusion is that although the profile of communication professionals has achieved a breakthrough by incorporating new skills in the manipulation of bigdata and knowledge of offshore modalities in the country, there is still much to be incorporated into the mechanisms and technological tools for the development and takeoff of leak genre journalism in the national media.
