El presente trabajo de titulación plantea crear una guía ilustrada sobre celebraciones folklóricas consideradas patrimonio cultural inmaterial del Ecuador a partir del diseño de personajes. Su finalidad es difundir estas fiestas patrimoniales analizando como son expuestas al público y mostrando por medio de una serie de diez ilustraciones todas las características, vestimentas y accesorios que las componen. Para el desarrollo del proyecto se realiza una investigación documental para recopilar información sobre el folklore en general, el patrimonio cultural inmaterial, las celebraciones culturales patrimoniales y sobre ilustración digital. De igual forma, se efectúa una investigación descriptiva con enfoque cualitativo en donde se realizan entrevistas a expertos y profesionales de diseño gráfico, historia y cultura, con el fin de conocer los elementos que hacen importantes a una celebración folklórica y posteriormente definir criterios de diseño. La información recolectada permite crear propuestas de ilustraciones de cada celebración patrimonial que son evaluadas, modificadas para seleccionar la opción más favorable y diseñar la guía ilustrada que muestra también el proceso de la creación de cada personaje.
The present thesis project proposes the creation of an illustrated guide about the folkloric celebrations that are considered intangible cultural heritage of Ecuador based on character designs. Its purpose is to spread these patrimonial festivities by analyzing how they are exposed to the public and by showing through a series of ten illustrations all the characteristics, clothes, and accessories that make them up. For the development of the project, a documentary research is accomplished to collect information on folklore, intangible cultural heritage, heritage cultural celebrations, and digital illustration. Similarly, a descriptive research with a qualitative approach is carried out with professionals and experts on graphic design, history and culture, in order to know the elements that make a folkloric celebration so important and subsequently define design criteria. The information collected allows creating illustration proposals of each celebration that are evaluated and modified to select the most favorable option, and then design the illustrated guide that also shows the making of the character.
