Este trabajo analiza la relación entre la inversión pública en educación superior y su influencia en el crecimiento económico en el Ecuador en el periodo presidencial del economista Rafael Correa. Para el análisis, se aplicó el método deductivo, siendo objetivo y lógico, teniendo un alcance de tipo descriptivo y correlacional a una muestra de 44 datos desde el año 2007 al 2017, dividendo los datos trimestralmente. Por medio del modelo de mínimos cuadrados ordinarios, se determinó la existencia de correlación entre las variables dependientes con la variable independiente PIB. Además, se observó que la formación bruta de capital fijo es la variable más relevante para el crecimiento económico, mientras que existe una intensa relación positiva entre el PIB y la variable Población (PEA). Por último, se manifiesta una tendencia negativa entre el PIB y la inversión pública en educación superior, rechazando la hipótesis nula y demostrando que el capital físico es el principal generador de crecimiento en el Ecuador.
This paper analyzes the relationship between public investment in higher education and its influence on economic growth in Ecuador during the presidential term of economist Rafael Correa. For the analysis, the deductive method was applied, being objective and logical, having a descriptive and correlational scope to a sample of 44 data from 2007 to 2017, dividing the data quarterly. Using the ordinary least squares model, the existence of a correlation between the dependent variables with the independent variable GDP was determined. Furthermore, it was observed that gross fixed capital formation is the most relevant variable for economic growth, while there is an intense positive relationship between GDP and the Population variable (EAP). Finally, there is a negative trend between GDP and public investment in higher education, rejecting the null hypothesis and demonstrating that physical capital is the main generator of growth in Ecuador.
