El presente trabajo tiene como propósito demostrar el desempeño ambiental que tienen los morteros convencionales o con fibras añadidas, ya sean estas vegetales (abacá y sisal) o sintéticas (PET), en el ámbito de la construcción mediante el correcto ACV (análisis de ciclo de vida). Es importante mencionar que las fibras vegetales deberán estar previamente tratadas con hidróxido de sodio NaOH al 3% para realizar dicho análisis. Por otra parte, se realiza un análisis de costo para cada uno de los morteros en mención y así poder realizar un comparativo entre ellos, según su costo y cantidad de kgCO2 eq por cada m3 de producción. Dicho análisis comparativo presenta los valores esperados, siendo que el mortero con fibra de abacá tratada con NaOH al 3% está por debajo de los otros tres morteros analizados, teniendo un menor resultado en cuanto al impacto ambiental que genera en la categoría de GWP (Global Warming Potential) y al menor costo que presenta realizar su producción.
The purpose of this investigation is to demonstrate the environmental performance of conventional mortars or mortars with added fibers, whether these are vegetable (abaca and sisal) or synthetic (PET), in the construction field through the correct LCA (life cycle analysis). It is important to mention that vegetable fibers had been previously treated with a 3% of sodium hydroxide NaOH. Also, cost analysis has been performed in all mortars previously mentioned, considering the kgCO2 eq per m3 of production. The comparative analysis shows the expected results, meaning that the reinforced mortar with abaca fibers treated with 3% sodium hydroxide NaOH has the lowest environmental impact compared to the others in terms of the environmental impact generated by the GWP category (Global Warming Potential) and at the lowest cost of production.
