Este trabajo de investigación tiene como finalidad presentar otro mecanismo de jurisdicción en la normativa ecuatoriana, mediante la institución de jurados populares, figura que fue utilizada en Ecuador y suprimida mediante Decreto Supremo, que en la actualidad es utilizada en distintos países con sus particularidades según el sistema adoptado. Esta institución permite la participación de los ciudadanos en la administración de la justicia, cuyo principal objetivo es garantizar la imparcialidad, y obtener una mayor confianza en el sistema judicial. En este trabajo se analizará el concepto de jurados populares dado por diferentes autores y su correspondiente interpretación, los antecedentes históricos de la figura, aspectos positivos que corresponden a ventajas de la institución, la viabilidad de la institución en Ecuador mediante una fundamentación fáctica y jurídica, una comparación normativa con países que han logrado su implementación, y una propuesta para la aplicación práctica en nuestro país, dado que mediante una implementación de jurados populares se garantizaría mayor transparencia en el sector judicial

This institution allows the participation of citizens in the administration of justice, whose main objective is to guarantee impartiality, and to obtain greater confidence in the judicial system. In this paper, the concept of popular jury given by different authors and its corresponding interpretation, the histórical background of the figure, positive aspects that correspond to the advantages of the institution, the viability of the institution in Ecuador through a factual and legal foundation, will be analyzed a legal comparison with countries that have achieved the implementation, and a proposal for practical application in our country, through the implementation of popular jury, would be guaranteed greater transparency in the judicial system.
