Factors such as the geographic location of the country, the presence of the Andes Mountains and the influence of various marine currents "have favored Ecuador with an ecosystem conducive to the formation and conservation of forests among other renewable natural resources, flora and fauna. Therefore, Ecuador is considered "among the ten countries with the greatest biodiversity in the world. Part of this wealth is its forests, where around 5,000 tree species grow. "One of these tree species is the bamboo family, the bamboo family, whose scientific name is angustifolia." This species stands out from other types of bamboo Its robust and thorny stem has bands of white hairs in the region of the knot, cauline leaves in a triangular shape and reaches 30 meters in height with an average diameter of 25 centimeters. This species is recognized as one of the best bamboos in the world by international scientists, the same that only exists in Ecuador, Colombia and part of Venezuela.
Factores tales como la ubicación geográfica del país, la presencia de La Cordillera de los Andes y la influencia de diversas corrientes marinas" han favorecido al Ecuador con un ecosistema propicio para la formación y conservación de bosques entre otros recursos naturales renovables, flora y fauna. Por lo cual, Ecuador está considerado "entre los diez países de mayor biodiversidad del mundo. Parte de esta riqueza la constituye sus bosques, en los cuales crecen alrededor de 5.000 especies arbóreas". Una de estas especies arbóreas es la caña guadúa, familia del bambú, cuyo nombre científico es angustifolia. "Esta especie sobresale de otras clases de bambú por su tallo robusto y espinoso, posee bandas de pelos blancos en la región del nudo, hojas caulinares en forma triangular y alcanza 30 metros de altura con un diámetro promedio de 25 centímetros". "Dicha especie está reconocida como uno de los mejores bambúes del mundo por científicos internacionales, la misma que solo existe en Ecuador, Colombia y parte de Venezuela.
