This research work analyzes the complexity of the phenomenon of the migratory flow in the world, in Latin America and, in particular, focuses on Ecuador as a destination for Cuban migrants, after the proclamation of the universal principle of citizenship in the Constitution of 2008. The aim of this study is to establish the causes of the arrival of Cuban migrants in Ecuador between 2008 and 2013. Likewise, it intends to answer the following question: why do Cuban citizens decide to leave their country, and what are the reasons that impel them to come to Ecuador? At the same time, the conditions that Ecuador offers as a migratory destination are examined in comparison to other Latin American countries. Finally, this research work analyzes the discordances regarding the migratory policies between what is stated in the Constitution of 2008 and the current Ley de Extranjería y Migración (Immigration and Migration Law)..
Este el mundo, América Latina y, específicamente, se enfoca en el caso ecuatoriano como destino receptor de migrantes cubanos, luego de la proclamación del principio de ciudadanía universal en la Constitución de 2008. El objetivo de este estudio es establecer las causas de la llegada de inmigrantes cubanos al Ecuador entre 2008 y 2013. Asimismo, se pretende responder a la siguiente pregunta: ¿por qué los ciudadanos cubanos deciden abandonar su país, y qué razones los impulsa a venir al Ecuador? De forma paralela, se examinan las condiciones que ofrece el Ecuador como destino migratorio en comparación a otros Estados latinoamericanos. Finalmente este trabajo de investigación analiza las desavenencias respecto a las políticas migratorias entre lo establecido en la Constitución de 2008 y la Ley de Extranjería y Migración vigente
