This research project is focused on the identification of critical factors that affect the sustainability of the entrepreneurships in the Caluma city, Bolivar Province, which may become a restriction or limitation for the development and growth of the business, generating a negative result as is the decline or closing of the same hindering the permanence in the market. From the study of various investigations, everything related to the sustainability of the entrepreneurships was understood in greater depth, depending on the methodology used, the critical factors are identified that according to the analysis and interpretation of data obtained from the surveys applied to the owners of businesses are classified into internal critical factors (financing, ability to undertake, level of education, time dedicated to business, business experience, responsibility of the entrepreneur, age), and external critical factors (Government policies, natural resources of the sector, organizational culture of society, strategic availability for business). To solve the problem of this research, a proposal is developed where solutions are established to minimize the causes of the closure of entrepreneurships, especially improving the quality of life of the Caluma City population. El presente proyecto de investigación está enfocado en la identificación de factores críticos que inciden en la sostenibilidad de los emprendimientos en el Cantón Caluma, Provincia Bolívar, los mismos que pueden llegar a ser una restricción o limitación para el desarrollo y crecimiento de los negocios, generando un resultado negativo como es el declive o cierre de los mismos dificultando la permanencia en el mercado. A partir del estudio de diversas investigaciones se entendió con mayor profundidad todo lo relacionado a la sostenibilidad de los emprendimientos, en función de la metodología empleada se identifican los factores críticos que de acuerdo al análisis e interpretación de datos obtenidos de las encuestas aplicadas a los propietarios de los negocios se clasifican en factores críticos internos (financiamiento, capacidad para emprender, nivel de educación, tiempo de dedicación al negocio, experiencia en el negocio, responsabilidad del emprendedor, edad) y factores críticos externos (Políticas gubernamentales, recursos naturales del sector, cultura organizacional de la sociedad, disponibilidad estratégica para el negocio). Para dar solución al problema de esta investigación se logra elaborar una propuesta donde se establece soluciones para minimizar las causas del cierre de emprendimientos, sobre todo mejorar la calidad de vida de la población del Cantón Caluma.
