El artículo pretende generar una explicación sobre “Las prácticas comunicativas que intervienen en la construcción de la memoria social de la Fábrica Imbabura” a través de la recopilación de testimonios y de la revisión de documentación sobre su historia que permitan identificar la relación, interacción y comunicación existentes entre los pobladores del cantón Antonio Ante cuya cabecera cantonal es la ciudad de Atuntaqui y mostrar cómo los procesos comunicativos han permitido que la Fábrica Imbabura prevalezca en la historia como un lugar representativo del cantón y por la cual se ha construido una memoria social. Es así que la tradición oral es una de las prácticas más importantes y arraigadas en los pobladores de Antonio Ante. A través de las historias compartidas entre las personas, se transmite el conocimiento que cada uno tiene de la historia del lugar y a partir de estos conocimientos, la memoria de la fábrica ha prevalecido en los habitantes y es como pretenden que prevalezca en la memoria de las futuras generaciones. Para consolidar el análisis del objeto de estudio se abordan conceptos como: Fábrica Imbabura, Prácticas Comunicativas, Memoria Individual, Memoria Colectiva, Memoria Social, Identidad y por último Ícono, con el fin de comprender el proceso de generación de dicha memoria. The article aims to generate an explanation of “The communicative practices involved in the construction of the social memory of the Imbabura Factory” through the collection of testimonies and the review of documentation on its history that allow identify the relationship, interaction and communication between the inhabitants of Antonio Ante, whose cantonal head is the city of Atuntaqui and show how the communicative processes have allowed the Imbabura Factory to prevail in history as a representative place in the canton and through which a social memory has been built. Thus, oral tradition is one of the most important and ingrained practices in the inhabitants of Antonio Ante. Through the stories shared between people is that it transmits the knowledge that each one has of the history of the place and it is from this knowledge that the memory of the factory has prevailed in the inhabitants and it is how they pretend that it prevails in the mem of future generations.
