A senior thesis is extremely important, it showcases all the knowledge you have lear¬ned through the architecture career both while developing the thesis and when you pre¬sent it. The research involved in the Project included re-discovering the neighborhood of Nayón, in Quito, as a sector that requires the identification of its needs. This neighborhood has been developed in an organic manner, a fact that is not always considered when ge¬nerating architecture, whether this is in a project or in a neighborhood like Nayón. After the research was performed, the necessities of the neighborhood were determined, Were the most urgent one were; to expand, re-formulate and build a new cemetery. This cemetery will take off from the already existing one, and will propose the new program. This will led to the re-generation of the landscape with a close relationship between natu¬re and the architecture object. At the same time, the project will be an input to the city’s landscape. For this objective to be accomplished we need to understand how a project of this type can be related with the landscape surrounding it. At the same time the project will bring spatial and natural sense to the place, in strict connection to the human feeling and the program developed. A cemetery represents a program that collects all sort of emotions where both hu¬man and architectonic with unique qualities that cannot be compared with other type of expressions. A cemetery designed as a program of human importance, prevails in all cultures. The Inca culture was not the exception to this statement, through architecture it achieved a strong relationship between the human being, cosmos architecture and the landscape around it. Such is, that the Incas generated an important relationship between cemetery and lands¬cape which was reflected in the constructions carried out. These constructions took into ac¬count the emotions and sensations of the people that are always present in the relationship landscape-architecture.
El proyecto de fin de carrera tiene gran importancia, pues evidencia la necesidad de plasmar en él, al momento de desarrollarlo, todo el conocimiento, entendimiento y re¬laciones espaciales que se hayan aprendido sobre Arquitectura, en los años de formación académica. La investigación inmersa en el desarrollo del proyecto inició por redescubrir la parroquia de Nayón, perteneciente al cantón Quito del DMQ como un sector del cual se requiere identificar todas sus necesidades, dado que se ha desarrollado de manera orgá¬nica; hecho que no siempre se toma en cuenta al momento de generar arquitectura, ya sea en un proyecto o en una parroquia como esta. Luego del estudio se identificaron las necesidades de la parroquia prevaleciendo la de ampliar, reformular y construir un nuevo cementerio, partiendo del ya existente pro¬poniendo un nuevo programa. Esto conllevaría la regeneración del paisaje por medio de la relación cercana entre lo natural y el objeto arquitectónico y que represente un aporte paisajístico dentro de la ciudad. Para este objetivo se necesitó entender cómo se podría relacionar un programa de esta índole con el paisaje a su alrededor, que a su vez apor¬tara un sentido espacial y natural al lugar, en estricto vínculo con el sentir humano y el programa desarrollado. Un cementerio representa un programa que recoge emociones de todo tipo, don¬de se muestran expresiones tanto humanas cómo arquitectónicas con cualidades únicas que no pueden ser comparadas con otros tipos de expresiones. Concebido el cementerio como un programa de importancia humana, tuvo prevalencia en todas las culturas, y la cultura inca no fue la excepción pues a través de su arquitectura logró una fuerte relación entre el ser humano, el cosmos, lo construido y el paisaje a su alrededor. Tanto es así que la cultura inca generó una relación importante cementerio y paisaje que se plasmó en las construcciones efectuadas, en las cuales se cuidó que las emociones y sensaciones de la persona estén presentes siempre en la relación paisaje-arquitectura.
