This Housing Project in San Antonio de Pichincha was born by the analysis of the place and the master plan made in Preparación de Proyecto de Fin de Carrera. However, in this area there are a lot of housing projects that do not take into account the place in their designs. They all look the same, they are infinite boxes that respond to a commercial purpose without thinking in the real user nor the place such as La Mitad del Mundo and the Rio Monjas. After the construction of the Unasur building that does not take into account the place either, the need for better housing projects was obvious. In this way, the project’s idea is to show that it is possible to live in a different way. To inhabit is not just the place where you go to sleep but inhabit has a more human and sensible meaning, where humans and nature can live together and interact. The idea is to understand how nature can modify a housing project in different scales, how the individual and collective are necessary and the way they answer to their immediate context.
El proyecto de vivienda en San Antonio de Pichincha nace del análisis del sector y del plan masa grupal que se realizó durante la Preparación de Proyecto de Fin de Carrera. En efecto, en esta zona existen proyectos muy importantes de vivienda de clase media que no responden a su contexto ni a la necesidad de hacer arquitectura. Son simples cajas que se repiten y que responden a necesidades comerciales sin pensar en el futuro usuario ni en el contexto tan particular que es la mitad del mundo y el Rio Monjas. La llegada del nuevo edificio de la Unasur, que tampoco responde a su contexto, puso en relieve la necesidad de hacer vivienda más apropiada tomando en cuenta el lugar. De esta manera nace el proyecto de vivienda, donde la idea es demostrar que es posible vivir de una manera distinta. El habitar no solo se entiende como el lugar donde se duerme sino que se entiende de una manera más humana y sensible, donde el hombre y la naturaleza puedan estar juntos e interactuar. La idea del proyecto es entender la introducción del elemento natural a distintas escalas (módulo de vivienda, conjunto de viviendas) y como el proyecto general e individual puede irse modificando y fragmentando en respuesta a su contexto inmediato.
