Teenage motherhood in the community of Estero de Plátano in Esmeraldas is a current reality crossed by multiple issues: sexism, structural and symbolic violence, poor health, and generational and social aspects. What are the consequences of motherhood at a young age for women? The causes and consequences of this fact especially in the life of women will be discussed. Topics to be addressed are: lack of useful sexual education, family planning, structural violence, unwanted and wanted motherhood, gender roles, sexual division of labor, use of time and youth. Early motherhood involves women and their families in a cycle of poverty. By reducing their human capital, it makes women vulnerable in the society. The study was held through ethnographic methodology. The target group is women who were and currently are teenage mothers. For this, rigorous interviews were conducted to women aged from 16-44 years in the present year.
La maternidad adolescente en la Comunidad de Estero de Plátano en Esmeraldas es una realidad recurrente atravesada por múltiples realidades: machismo, violencia estructural y simbólica, problemas de salud, además de aspectos generacionales y sociales. ¿Cuáles son las consecuencias de una maternidad recurrida a una edad temprana para la mujer? Se analizarán las causas y consecuencias de este hecho específicamente en la vida de la mujer. Temas que se van a tratar son: falta de educación sexual útil, planificación familiar, violencia estructural, maternidad deseada, maternidad no deseada, roles de género, división sexual de trabajo, uso del tiempo y juventud. La maternidad precoz envuelve a la mujer y a su familia en un círculo de la pobreza. Al reducir su capital humano se convierten en vulnerables ante la sociedad. El estudio se llevó a cabo a través de la metodología etnográfica. El grupo objetivo son mujeres que son y fueron madres adolescentes. Para ello se realizó entrevistas rigurosas a mujeres de la comunidad de edades comprendidas entre los 16-44 años en el presente año.
