Evaluación preliminar de los efectos del tránsito fluvial motorizado en la concentración de sedimentos suspendidos en el agua del Río Napo

Description: Several rivers of the Amazon are known for having a considerable amount of suspended sediments in the water. The concentration of this variable is considered an important factor in aquatic ecology and it is commonly used as an indicator of the health of the ecosystem. In recent times in one of the main tributaries of the Amazon River, the Napo River in Ecuador, there has been a notorious increment of the motorized fluvial transit. For this reason my investigation tried to evaluate the possible effects that this change could have on the concentration of suspended sediments in the water and on the grain size of the margins of the channel, by comparing two regions that present a visible difference in the intensity of motorized fluvial transit.
Los ríos andino amazónicos son conocidos por poseer una cantidad considerable de sedimentos suspendidos en el agua. La concentración de esta variable es considerada un factor importante en ecología acuática y se la utiliza comúnmente como un indicador para evaluar el estado del ecosistema. En los últimos tiempos en uno de los principales tributarios del Río Amazonas, el Río Napo en el Ecuador, se ha evidenciado un aumento en el tránsito fluvial motorizado. Por este motivo esta investigación trata de observar los posibles efectos que este factor pueda tener en la concentración de sedimentos suspendidos en el agua y en el tamaño de grano del suelo de las orillas del río.
