Description

This project consists of the remodeling of the cruise ship Silver Galapagos, in order to establish a more appealing tourism alternative and therefore reaching a rather diverse group of people of different ages and cultural backgrounds. In order to achieve a design proposal that is both informed and accurate, it´s important to research design requirements for each one of the propositioned areas. The functionality of cruise ships is thoroughly studied, as well as a research about the Galapagos Islands with a focus on navigating ships. Moreover, there is a careful analysis on the types of materials, lighting, standard dimensions, color theory and norms for every proposed space. In addition, a study is included on the INEN norms from the CONADIS in order to accomplish a universal design where any person would be confortable living in. There is a summary on nautical safety according to SOLAS, this being the controlling entity for safety guidelines. Lastly, an examination on environmental parameters is taken as reference to reach practical interior design. In conclusion, this is an analysis on every single factor that may affect in some way any area of interior design, in order to make practical and correct decisions when redesigning.
El proyecto consiste en la remodelación del diseño interior del Crucero Silver Galápagos para fomentar una alternativa de turismo más atractiva, alcanzando a un mayor rango de gente de varias edades y trasfondos culturales. Para lograr una propuesta de diseño informada y acertada, es importante investigar los requerimientos de diseño para cada una de las áreas propuestas. Se investiga el funcionamiento de los cruceros, así como un estudio de las Islas Galápagos enfocado al turismo en naves náuticas. Por otro lado, se estudian los materiales, la iluminación, medidas estándar, cromática y normas para cada espacio a intervenir. Además, se incluye un estudio de las normas INEN del CONADIS para lograr un diseño universal donde cualquier persona pueda habitar. Se expone un resumen acerca de la seguridad náutica según SOLAS, siendo este el ente regulador de pautas de seguridad. Por ultimo, se investigan las directrices ambientales para los barcos de pasajeros como referencia para el diseño funcional. En fin, se analizan todas aquellas cosas que afectan de alguna manera el diseño interior del crucero para tomar decisiones acertadas y prácticas el momento de diseñar.
