This case study will present the work done with Emotion-Focused Therapy with a client that arrives to therapy presenting family and interpersonal problems that developed in her adolescence as a consequence of the death of his father. Isabel is a 46 year old women, married with two children, that arrives to therapy willing to work on her problems but at the beginning felt insecure by the fact that the therapist is young and an student that is in training, this represented the first resistance barrier in the therapeutic process. The first objective of the therapist was to work on this resistance showing the client that she was genuine and accepting as valid her preoccupation. From this point on the therapeutic alliance got stronger and they started working on the clients problematic as a team. During the sessions Isabel discovers that the problems she was having at her home and with her self was the result f what she had lived in her adolescence and was being reactivated by the fact that her husband was far from home and left her alone leaving her in charge of her kids.
Este estudio de caso presentara el trabajo realizado con la Terapia Enfocada en la Emoción a una cliente que llega a terapia presentando problemas familiares e interpersonales cuya base se desarrolla en su adolescencia como consecuencia de la muerte de su padre. Isabel mujer de 46 años, casada, con dos hijos, llega a terapia dispuesta a trabajar con sus problemas, pero en un principio le pone insegura el hecho de que la terapeuta sea joven y una estudiante en entrenamiento lo cual representa la primera barrera en el proceso terapéutico. El primer objetivo de la terapeuta fue trabajar en esta barrera, mostrándose genuina y aceptando como valida su preocupación. A partir de esto la alianza terapéutica se fortalece y se empieza a trabajar en la problemática como un equipo. En el transcurso de las sesiones Isabel descubre que los problemas que se encontraba viviendo en casa y consigo misma eran resultado de lo vivido en su adolescencia y que se estaba reactivando con el hecho de que su marido se encontraba lejos dejándola sola a cargo de sus hijos.
