Estudio comparativo sobre la eficacia de los cepillos manuales frente a los cepillos eléctricos en adolescentes del Colegio Luciano Andrade - Marín de la ciudad de Quito

The present study was made to evaluate the efficiency of toothbrushing and plaque control. The evaluation was made comparing two toothbrushes “Colgate Twister Fresh” (manual toothbrush) with “Colgate 360° microsonic Power (electric vibratory action). Methods: 96 subjects were evaluated between men and women. There was a initial register of plaque then an instruction about toothbrushing (Bass modified method). 48 subjects used “Colgate Twister Fresh” who were the control group, and 48 subjects used “Colgate 360° microsonic Power” who were the cases group. After all there was a record of plaque index at 15 and 30 days. Results: There was a remarkable plaque reduction between de first record and the 15 and 30 days records. The manual toothbrush demonstrated better efficacy for plaque controlling.
El presente estudio tuvo como finalidad evaluar la eficacia del cepillado y control de placa. Esta evaluación se hizo comparando dos tipos de cepillos el “Colgate Twister Fresh” (manual) y el “Colgate 360° microsonic Power” (eléctrico vibratorio). Métodos: El universo fue de 96 participantes entre hombres y mujeres, se realizó un registro inicial de índice de placa bacteriana y se les instruyó técnica de cepillado (técnica de Bass modificada). A 48 participantes se les entregó “Colgate Twister Fresh” que sirvieron como controles, a los otros 48 participantes se les entregó “Colgate 360° microsonic Power” que sirvieron como casos. Posterior a esto se volvió a registrar el índice de placa en cada paciente a los 15 y 30 días.
