Evaluación del efecto de la densidad de siembra en el crecimiento y calidad post cosecha en tres variedades de Tulipán, en Machachi -Ecuador.

The tulip is one of the most famous flowers in the world and it is believed that the density affects the quality of it. Studies have shown that at higher planting density, larger stems are produced. In this research it has been analyzed growth and quality parameters in three different tulips varieties from the group Triumph and with two planting densities. The tulips varieties were: Clearwater (White), Gander's Rhapsody (Pink) and Purple Flag (Purple), meanwhile the two planting densities were: 55 bulbs / m2 and 155 bulbs / m2. I analyzed the effect on the height of the plant, the height and width of the stem, high and width of button and life in vase. The result is statistically significant between the densities of the varieties: Clearwater and Purple Flag when considering the variables: plant height and stem length. In addition, there is statistical significance for the length of bud between densities of the Purple Flag variety. The variable "life in vase" showed difference between the varieties, but did not demonstrate effect between densities. Hence, the variety that presented the best results when considering all the variables was the Purple Flag.
El tulipán es una de las flores más conocidas en el mundo y es emblema de la cultura holandesa. Los sistemas de cultivo de este ornamental son intensivos y se cree que la densidad de siembra afecta la calidad de las flores. Estudios han demostrado que a mayor densidad de siembra, se producen tallos de mayor tamaño y calidad. En esta investigación, se ha analizado parámetros de crecimiento y calidad en tres variedades de tulipán del grupo Triumph con dos densidades de siembra. Las variedades de tulipán fueron: Clearwater (Blanco), Gander’s Rhapsody (Rosada) y Purple Flag (Morado); mientras que las densidades de siembra fueron: 50 bulbos/m2 (D1) y 166 bulbos/m2 (D2). Así, se obtuvo un total de seis tratamientos. Los parámetros analizados fueron: la altura de la planta, alto y ancho del tallo, alto y ancho de botón y vida en florero. De los seis tratamientos en estudio, los tratamientos con densidad de siembra D2 produjeron tallos de mayor tamaño y mayor altura de planta. Específicamente, la variedad Clearwater con la densidad de siembra D2 produjo los tallos con mayor tamaño, mientras que los tratamientos de la variedad Purple Flag con la densidad de siembra D1, produjeron los tallos de menor altura. Para la variable ancho del tallo no existió diferencia entre los tratamientos. En cuanto al botón de entre todos los tratamientos, la combinación de la variedad Purple Flag con densidad de siembra D2 presentó los botones más largos. Mientras que la variedad Clearwater demostró tener botones de ancho mayor. La variable “vida en florero” expuso diferencia entre las variedades, mas no demostró efecto entre densidades. Así, al analizar todas las variables la mejor variedad fue Purple Flag.
