Organizations are comprised of groups of people. The relationships of these groups produces a culture conceived and created by its leaders. The purpose of this study is to explore the dynamic that exists between culture and leadership. The USFQ, a liberal arts university in Quito, Ecuador, has been able to attain a level of unprecedented success, driven by the influential leadership of its founders and the synergy of the tasks carried out by its directors through conscientious team-work. These leaders with their training as scientists have conceived, planned and created a culture that is rich, diverse and unique. Its most outstanding characteristic is that of the entrepreneurial spirit of its participants when facing the challenges of launching this academic adventure while adapting to a constantly changing environment.
El buen funcionamiento de las organizaciones depende de sus miembros. La interrelación de los mismos genera una cultura concebida y creada por sus líderes. El propósito de este estudio se enfoca en la relación existente entre liderazgo y cultura. La USFQ, una universidad de artes liberales en Quito, Ecuador ha alcanzado un éxito sin precedentes gracias al liderazgo ejercido por su mentalizador y la sinergia del trabajo en equipo a nivel directivo. Dichos líderes con formación científica han gestado, planeado y concebido una cultura rica, diversa, única, y sobre todo caracterizada por el espíritu emprendedor de sus miembros, al haber afrontado los riesgos inherentes en esta aventura universitaria y adaptarse a un entorno cambiante.
