Making errors is an issue that everyone who is involved in the process of learning a foreign language has to face daily. The English Language Department at "Universidad Católica" in Ambato, has been working since 1986. During this time, thousands of students have come to learn the language with us; and neither the cause and origin of the errors in exams have been analysed and studied, nor the main types of errors made by them in writing. This is the main reason that encouraged us to develop this dissertation based on our learning errors in the writing section of the exams, considering that writing is a difficult skill to master by foreign language learners. We consider de writing section of each exam tu be the most relevant to be analysed, considering it as one of the most important in the development and success of an exam. The main purpose of this proyect is to give a clear vision of the writing skills, kind of errors and their occurrence, as well as the importance of them in the teaching situation and the main objective which was already mentioned, to analyse the writing section in exams, to realise abouto the main type of errors
