Based on the lack of interest and motivation that some students at Atenas elementary school show during English lessons, and with the purpose of improving the teaching of English in this institution, the two teachers involved in this dissertation analyzed the different learning styles used by students when learning a foreign language. A new approach to teaching English was implemented at the level of second and seventh year of basic education, The student.Centred Approach, with the objective of trying to show that students acquire language in a more effective way if their learning styles are considered. If all multiple intelligences are taken into consideration, if students are the center of every class activity, and if they are actively involved in meaningful situations that arouse their interests, develop their creativity and allow them to discover new learning strategies that facilitate learning
