Periplo de los lechos / fábula retroviral -by the poet, narrator and research professor at the University of Texas at Austin, Héctor Domínguez Ruvalcaba (Hermosillo, Sonora, 1962) - is the second Mexican collection of poems to fully poeticize the relationship between homoeroticism and HIV /AIDS; the first was Poesida (1996), by the Mexican poet and playwright Abigael Bohórquez (Caborca, Sonora, March 12, 1936-Hermosillo, Sonora, November 27, 1995). Periplo de los lechos / fábula retroviral is a collection of poems divided into three parts, each of which contains thirty-eight, twenty-one and twenty-one short free verse poems, respectively. In the first part, the hermosillense poet sings the delights of homoeroticism; the second is dedicated to the homoerotic experience of HIV / AIDS; and the third to the poetic exorcism of the attractive demons of suicide. Domínguez Ruvalcaba's poems freely and openly address the desiring force of homoeroticism in sexually diverse and dissident men. Furthermore, they reflect the physical and subjective experiences of living with HIV and, in that sense, the suffering implicit in such experiences of seropositivity. Thus, homoeroticism, living with HIV and suffering are three themes that give rise to the exhilarating and distressing, at the same time, the artistic expression of the author and, in his poems, they gain literary and social legitimacy as parts of the diversity of the human condition.
Periplo de los lechos / fábula retroviral -del poeta, narrador y profesor investigador en la Universidad de Texas en Austin, Héctor Domínguez Ruvalcaba (Hermosillo, Sonora, 1962)- es el segundo poemario mexicano en poetizar íntegramente la relación entre el homoerotismo y el VIH/sida; el primero fue Poesida (1996), del poeta y dramaturgo mexicano Abigael Bohórquez (Caborca, Sonora, 12 de marzo de 1936-Hermosillo, Sonora, 27 de noviembre de 1995). Periplo de los lechos / fábula retroviral es un poemario dividido en tres partes, cada una de las cuales contiene treinta y ocho, veintiún y veintiún breves poemas de verso libre, respectivamente. En la primera parte, el poeta hermosillense canta las delicias del homoerotismo; la segunda está dedicada a la vivencia homoerótica del VIH/sida; y la tercera al exorcismo poético de los demonios atrayentes del suicidio. Los poemas de Domínguez Ruvalcaba abordan libre y abiertamente la fuerza deseante del homoerotismo en los hombres sexualmente diversos y disidentes. Además, reflejan las experiencias físicas y subjetivas de la convivencia con el VIH y, en ese sentido, el sufrimiento implícito en tales experiencias de la seropositividad. Así, el homoerotismo, la convivencia con el VIH y el sufrimiento son tres temas que dan pie a la regocijante y angustiante, a la vez, expresión artística del autor y, en su poemario, cobran legitimidad literaria y social como partes de la diversidad de la condición humana.
