Description

The concept of intelligence has been for many decades in the interest of many researchers and authors that have being trying to delimit it. Howard Garner revolutionized a traditional concept of one single and measurable intelligence, presenting a theory of Multiple Intelligences. On the other hand, schools were traditionally presenting a curriculum that was only favourable to a limited amount of intelligences. The present study was developed as a mean to research if currently schools were considering the importance of developing all the different intelligences presented in the Howard Gardner?s theory of Multiple Intelligences. The study was made in two countries: Ecuador and England. The methodology that was used was a desk based research that explored National Curricula of the compulsory years of study presented by law by the government of both countries. The study realized a comparison between both curricula and intended to find if multiple intelligences were considered in the different presented subjects. The results showed that there was a considerable similarity between the subjects that were mandatory in both countries. The study also found a strong relation between the theory of Multiple Intelligences and the National Curriculum of both countries.
