OBJETIVO: El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar la relación entre el grado de instrucción y la indiferencia al tratamiento odontológico en adultos de 45 a 65 años de edad de la parroquia Gil Ramírez Dávalos en Cuenca, Ecuador en el año 2017. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: El diseño de investigación fue caso-control con enfoque cuantitativo; el tipo de investigación por el ámbito fue de campo, por la técnica comunicacional y por temporalidad transversal actual. La muestra del estudio fue de “426” fichas, que pertenecen a los adultos de 45 a 65 años de edad habitantes de la parroquia Gil Ramírez Dávalos, los cuales fueron sometidos a una respectiva encuesta “Barreras para acceder a servicios odontológicos-Cuenca”; las fichas fueron ingresadas al sistema EPI INFO y posteriormente se obtuvo el tamaño muestral por conveniencia, logrando un total de 116 casos y 116 controles y finalmente se empleó la fórmula Odds Ratio. RESULTADOS: Los resultados arrojaron un valor de 1,14 con un intervalo de confianza del 95% con un índice inferior de 0,68 y un inferior de 1,92, mostrando que no existe relación entre estas dos variables; además se comprobó que la distribución de la enfermedad de acuerdo al sexo es mayor en el sexo femenino. CONCLUSION: El grado de instrucción no influye en la indiferencia al tratamiento odontológico de los habitantes del sector.
OBJECTIVE: The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the degree of instruction and the indifference to dental treatment in adults aged 45 to 65 years old from Gil Ramírez Dávalos parish in Cuenca, Ecuador in 2017. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The research design was case-control with a quantitative approach; the type of research in the field, by the communication technique and by current tranverse temporality. The sample of the study was "426" cards, which belong to the adults of 45 to 65 years old inhabitants of the parish Gil Ramírez Dávalos, who were subjected to a respectful survey "Barriers to access dental services-Cuenca"; the tests were entered into the EPI INFO system and then the sample size was obtained for convenience, achieving a total of 116 cases and 116 controls and finally the Odds Ratio formula was used. RESULTS: The results showed a value of 1.14 with a confidence interval of 95% with a lower index of 0.68 and a lower index of 1.92, showing that there is no relationship between these two variables; It was also found that the distribution of the disease according to sex is greater in the female sex. CONCLUSION: The degree of education does not influence in the indifference to the dental treatment of the inhabitants of the sector
