OBJETIVO: Conocer las principales lesiones o manifestaciones bucodentomaxilofaciales que se presentan en víctimas de abuso infantil. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: En la presente investigación se realizará una revisión bibliográfica en la cual se llevará un Tipo de investigación: Documental usando fuentes primarias como revistas y artículos científicos. Para la recolección de artículos y revistas se visitaron, fuentes como Redalyc, Journals, Elsevier, PubMed, Scielo entre otros. Se excluyeron artículos que no tengan pertinencia con el tema, artículos repetidos, cartas al director, artículos que no den información completa. RESULTADOS: Las lesiones que son ocasionadas por los diferentes tipos de abuso infantil pueden ser; caries, ulceras bucales, lesiones faríngeas, quemaduras, herpes, hematomas, etc. CONCLUSIONES: Existen diversas lesiones que pueden indicar una situación de abuso. Es por ello que el profesional odontólogo está en la obligación de reportar un caso de sospecha de abuso infantil y a su vez recabar la información necesaria para procesar el caso de manera pertinente.
OBJECTIVE: To know the leading oral and maxillofacial lesions or manifestations in child abuse victims. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A bibliographic review was performed; it was a documentary investigation using journals and scientific articles as primary sources. Databases such as Redalyc, Journals, Elsevier, PubMed, and SciELO were used to collect essays and journals. Non-relevant articles, repeated reports, letters to the editor, and papers without information were excluded. RESULTS: Injuries caused by child abuse can be; caries, mouth ulcers, pharyngeal lesions, burns, herpes, hematomas, and others. CONCLUSIONS: Several lesions can reveal child abuse. Therefore, the dental professional must report the suspected child mistreatment case and gather the necessary information to process it properly.
