Dualidad entre el patrimonio y la naturaleza “Hotel en el barrio la Floresta”

In the past years, the city of Quito has experienced one of the most important tourism increases in the world and it is expected for the trend to maintain. Therefore the following project intends to offer a solution to the increasing accommodation demand. Taking into consideration touristic attractions found in the city such as colonial constructions, Guapulo’s night life with small bars and the natural surroundings on the hillside, the neighborhood La Floresta is been chosen for developing the project. The proposal is to combine colonial, patrimonial facades with a modern metallic structure creating a four stars hotel that meet the growing needs of the metropolis. For developing the project, the land selected reflects the duality between the colonial city and the unique view of the nature and valley obtained from that point. Likewise, the project enhances those conditions through two center connected by the hotel building. The hotel aims to integrate with the community by generating public spaces for meeting and leisure, and a commercial walk between the colonial facade and the hotel that offers shops and recreational areas. Furthermore, the project proposes a center in which a connection and mixture with the nature is created through humid spaces and recreational areas. In this way it is expected to meet the neighborhood’s inhabitant’s needs enhancing the touristic experience for the visitors.
La ciudad de Quito ha experimentado uno de los más altos crecimientos turísticos a nivel mundial en los últimos años y se espera que la tendencia continúe. En este sentido el presente proyecto plantea ofrecer una solución a la creciente demanda de alojamiento. Considerando atractivos turísticos propios de la ciudad como las construcciones coloniales, la vida bohemia de Guápulo en pequeños bares y la naturaleza de ladera, se ha seleccionado al barrio La Floresta para desarrollar el proyecto. Allí se propone fusionar fachadas coloniales patrimoniales con una estructura metálica moderna que permitan ofrecer un hotel cuatro estrellas atendiendo las necesidades de la creciente metrópoli. Para el desarrollo del proyecto se ha seleccionado un terreno que refleja justamente la dualidad entre la ciudad colonial y la vista única de naturaleza y valle que se obtiene desde ahí. En este sentido, el proyecto enfatiza estas condiciones a través de dos centros conectados por el edificio del hotel. El hotel busca integrarse en la comunidad generando espacios públicos de reunión y ocio y un paseo comercial entre la fachada colonial y el hotel con plazas de reunión, espacios de esparcimiento y comercios. A la par el proyecto propone un centro en el que una conexión y mezcla con la naturaleza a través de espacios húmedos y áreas de recreación. De esta manera se plantea atender las necesidades de los habitantes del barrio, potenciando la experiencia turística para los visitantes.
