Markets are immutable realities in our society. Spaces of social interaction that we can’t put aside or ignored because they are related to our roots and our tradition. However, these important spaces do not have the importance they deserve in our country’s architecture. Who said that a market should be an ugly place? Having this idea as a starting point, the investigation began with a system that could answer and solve the needs of a market. The free plan, an organization system initiated in the early twentieth century, is a very useful tool because it uses several strategies to solve situations in which the program can be mutable and changeable. Nevertheless, the conception of free plan evolved, and were not one but many contemporary architects who developed and redesigned the traditional notion of free plan. Since the initial proposal of Le Corbusier to the industrial and flexible notion of Lacaton & Vassal, the free plan passed through many hands. But nevertheless, the idea of this new conception of space and openness anxiety abroad were the concepts that united all these theories, developing in each the idea of a system providing a plan and another that generates free items organized around the plan.
Los mercados son realidades inmutables dentro de nuestra sociedad. Espacios de interacción social que no podemos dejar a un lado ni ignorar, ya que están arraigados a nuestras raíces y nuestra tradición. De todas formas, estos espacios tan importantes no se toman mucho en cuenta en la arquitectura del país. ¿Quién dijo que un mercado debe ser un lugar feo? A partir de esta reflexión se estudió un sistema que pueda acoplarse a las necesidades de un mercado. El plan libre, sistema de organización iniciado a principios del siglo XX, es una herramienta muy útil ya que aplica varias estrategias para resolver situaciones en las que el programa puede ser mutable y cambiante. A pesar de eso, la concepción de plan libre evolucionó, y no fueron uno sino muchos los arquitectos contemporáneos que desarrollaron y replantearon la noción tradicional de plan libre. Desde la propuesta inicial de Le Corbusier hasta la idea industrial y flexible de Lacaton & Vassal, el plan libre pasó por muchas manos. Pero a pesar de todo, la idea de esa nueva concepción del espacio y la ansiedad por apertura al exterior fueron los conceptos que unieron a todas estas teorías, desarrollando en cada una la idea de un sistema que otorgue un plan y otra que genere elementos libres organizados al alrededor del plan.
